At  an age when most kids remain busy playing with toys and prefer to watch  Tom & Jerry TV show, a Delhi lad has chosen to excel in academics,  that too at the higher level. Believe it or not, Master Divya Prakash  Pandey, a six-and-a-half-year lad from Delhi has earned the distinction  of being the youngest recipient of a Certificate in Craft and Design  Programme (CCDP) in pottery from the IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open  University). Master Divya is not only the youngest student of IGNOU but  also the youngest student ever admitted in any university, a statement  from IGNOU said.
Master  Divya studies in Class II at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Vigyan Vihar in East  Delhi. He has passed the examination which was held under the IGNOU’s  School of Engineering and Technology with flying colors, scoring 76%  marks. He has designed different patterns and created innovative ideas  in craft and design, an IGNOU press release said.
The  Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (IGNOU) youngest pride, six  and half years old Master Divya Prakash Pandey has set the University’s  mantra of ‘Age no bar, Pace no bar, Place no bar’ right by passing the  Certificate in Craft and Design Programme (CCDP) under School of  Engineering & Technology  in July 2010 session with 76 per cent  marks.
According  to the IGNOU, during the course of his studies, Master Divya created  fusion in Craft & Design as well as magic. He has created wonder in  the world of clay by designing the famous magic trick ‘Water of India’  besides designing different pattern and creating innovative ideas in  craft & design, the IGNOU said.
The  CCDP course is developed under the IGNOU-Khadi and Village Industries  Commission (KVIC) project and aims at upgrading the knowledge and skills  of artisans engaged/interested in pottery. This programme envisages no  prerequisite educational qualification for the target group of rural  artisans and interested youths. It introduces artisans to conceptual  designing as well as cost analysis and marketing of products.
